The Bridge Project

The Bridge Project is an exciting YMCA led community initiative specifically designed to break the cycle of re-offending (recidivism). It offers opportunities for young people leaving custody to take part in ‘tailored training’ and meaningful employment, whilst being supported and mentored by the YMCA. The Bridge Project takes a ‘whole of community’ approach and utilises the many services of the YMCA including Lynks counselling, Big Brothers Big Sisters and YMCA Mobile Youth Services.

Opportunities for Employers

What we offer

The Bridge Project offers employers an alternative and cost effective way to recruit new staff. We do this by providing ‘work ready’ young people and subsidising wages, whilst offering individualised case management for all potential employees.

We are currently seeking new employers to take advantage of this innovative and supported work placement opportunity. Not only will your organisation benefit from the cost savings of recruiting staff and paying wages, it will have the opportunity to improve the lives of Western Australia’s most disconnected youth.

What employers get

  • A full-time, supported employee for 8-10 weeks.
  • Subsidised wages.
  • Professional case management for all employees.
  • Assistance with employment costs.
  • Mentor training from YMCA Perth , a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
  • Work place support, including work readiness training and pre-employment preparation.
  • An opportunity to make a significant impact in your community and change the life of a young person.

The 2011 Bridge Project Employers Forum

The 2011 Bridge Project Employers forum is being held on Wednesday 19th October from 4-6pm and provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the Bridge Project. We invite you and your guests along if you may be interested in becoming supporters, employers or sponsors of the Bridge Project now or in the future.

The afternoon will include presentations from those currently involved in the Bridge Project followed by a cruise along the Swan River hosted by Captain Cook Cruises. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of sundowner food and refreshments including beer, wine and soft drinks.

For catering purposes, we kindly ask that all RSVPs are received by COB Friday 14th October by emailing Bridgeproject.Perth@ymca.org.au with the names of the people who would like to attend.

If you have any questions in regards to the Employers Forum, please do not hesitate to contact the Bridge Project team on 9328 3221.
